HOGHTON VIEW HEREFORDS ANNOUNCE 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SALE FOR 2025
It is with great pleasure that we can finally announce something we have had in the pipeline for a while now! Our 10 year anniversary sale! The sale will be held on 28th June 2025 at our farm in Hoghton! You'll have chance to purchase our genetics and introduce them into your herd!
Watch out for the lots we'll be showcasing including the WHOLE 2024 heifer calf crop, stand out cow and calf pairs, semen, embryo lots and stud sires! What ever you like were sure to have you covered!

Spring Show and Sale of Pedigree Hereford Cattle at Shrewsbury Livestock Market.
We are thrilled to announce a new junior bull to our herd... Rempstone 1 Alcatraz N685! He stood as Reserve Junior Male Champion at the sale and we were successful in bringing him home!
Homozygous polled and sired by Dendor 1 Nairobi and out of a heifer Rempstone 1 Luna D558, she's done a fine job of him and we can't wait to see the stamp he leaves on our herd!

OUR JUNIOR HERD SIRE
Auckvale 1 Walktall 2291W
As an end of March bull calf he went in with the heifers at 12 months old, and he just carried on growing through the summer, his calves are now on the ground and looking very promising.
We chose this new herd sire when he was just a calf still on his mum outside in winter with no creep and he looked amazing!
When selecting breeding stock we would always look to the mother and the female lines first and wow was she doing a great job of milking him, she also happens to be fertile, good looking(a show cow) and most importantly a breeder of consistent quality. Backed by an awesome pedigree and the Beth female line.
We then look to the sires side and you don’t get much better than Dendor 1 Mutley. Not many 8 year old bulls are still good enough to represent the breed on the stand at beef expo! Having sired nearly 200 calves he again is undoubtedly a consistent breeder of quality.
Walktall himself is an eye catching bull, long and deep for his young age, he moves out well on a great set of legs and feet, plenty of breed character in his head and clean front end he is ideally marked, dark red but lots of white. Most importantly he looks like a bull but he has a good set of figures to back him up too! Homozygous polled, he really does tick all our boxes.
We can’t wait to watch him mature and see how his progeny perform!

We’re just about processing our fantastic weekend down in Shrewsbury!
On Friday night we were over the moon with our Embryo sale, Whitehill Lilie has everything you could want in a cow, with the added pedigree cocktail of the sires to these embryos, we know the purchaser Ian Wilkinson has some exciting breeding heading his way!
Saturday morning the HCBA Christmas Calf show, Hoghton View 1 Utah came 2nd in a strong class of Jan/Feb 2023 bulls, only beaten by the Junior Bull Champion.
Saturday afternoon was the time for Hoghton View 1 Alfreda to shine! Selling for 8,200g to Mr Whitfield the previous purchaser of last year’s DGS heifer, it was fantastic to see her go to a great home and further HVH genetics added to his herd!
Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us make this such a memorable weekend, thanks must also go to the organisers of the calf show, Josh Dowbiggin for twisting our arm to sell some embryos and Alfreda as well as the bidders and under bidders!

We are extremely proud to come 2nd place in the large herd section of the 2023 North of England herd competition.
The herd competition means a lot to us as we are totally herd focussed rather than a few individual show animals.
Very pleasing to see Hoghton View 1 Greta 4th being 2nd place in the best heifer calf section and Hoghton View 1 Rip being 3rd place in the best bull calf section.
Well done to Auckvale Herefords on winning and all the other herds that too part in the competition. Many thanks to Richard Jackson for judging.

Our herd well and truly grew in 2016 that's for sure! With purchases from Herds which are well known for their breeding, 2017 is sure to be another great one!
The arrival of our very own Hoghton View calves has also commenced! With Hoghton View 1 Night being our first calf on the ground. We are so happy with the temperament of the cattle whilst calving which is something that was very important for us. Even better is the standard of the calves coming though!

We visited Regina, Canada for the Canadian Western Agribition 2016.
It was interesting to see the genetics and breeding of the Hereford breed in Canada, we learned a lot ad met some great people as well.

Today the Heifers were turned out to grass at Hoghton View Herefords for the first time! They are grazing under Hoghton Tower on our pastures, they are looking forward to a long warm summer with the sun shining!
